What we teach

Economics Tutoring

In economics the diagram is the argument. Students who can draw and label the right diagram accurately, then explain what moved and why, outperform students who know more but present it as prose.

Lessons build a reliable diagram bank first, then the evaluation technique that carries the top band: magnitude, time frame, ceteris paribus assumptions and the quality of the underlying data.

We tutor GCSE and IGCSE economics, A-Level economics, IB Economics HL and SL, and AP Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, using current real-world examples rather than the textbook's decade-old ones.

In the lesson

What a lesson actually looks like

1

A diagnostic first lesson

The tutor works through a short set of problems to find where understanding actually breaks down — which is usually one or two topics earlier than the one causing trouble in class.

2

Teaching, then practice under exam conditions

Concepts are taught from first principles on the shared whiteboard, then applied to past-paper questions from the student's own board, timed and marked against the real mark scheme.

3

Feedback the student can act on

Each lesson ends with what went well, the specific technique to fix, and targeted practice before the next session. Parents get regular progress updates.

Economics tutoring starts from USD 15 per hour. See all plans.

FAQ

Economics tutoring — your questions

How do you teach evaluation?

As a set of repeatable lenses rather than as a vague instruction to 'consider both sides'. How large is the effect, over what time frame, how reliable is the evidence, what assumptions has the analysis made, and who is affected. Applied consistently, that turns an eight-mark answer into a twelve-mark one.

Is IB Economics very different from A-Level?

The content overlaps heavily, but IB assesses through a different structure — the internal assessment commentaries on real news articles, and a paper structure with its own conventions. Students moving between the two systems mostly need to re-learn the assessment, not the economics.

Do you cover the maths in A-Level economics?

Yes — index numbers, percentage change, elasticity calculations, real versus nominal values and interpreting statistical data. It is a modest but non-negotiable part of every specification, and it is where students who chose economics to avoid maths tend to lose marks.
