What we teach

Combined Science Tutoring

Combined Science is three subjects marked as two grades, and students rarely struggle evenly across all three. Our tutors work out which strand is dragging the double award down and weight lessons accordingly.

We cover the full Combined Science content for GCSE (Trilogy and Synergy) and IGCSE Co-ordinated and Combined Science, across Foundation and Higher tiers.

Because the award is reported as two grades from the three strands, targeted work on the weakest strand usually moves the overall result more than even revision across all three — which is the opposite of how most students revise for it.

In the lesson

What a lesson actually looks like

1

A diagnostic first lesson

The tutor works through a short set of problems to find where understanding actually breaks down — which is usually one or two topics earlier than the one causing trouble in class.

2

Teaching, then practice under exam conditions

Concepts are taught from first principles on the shared whiteboard, then applied to past-paper questions from the student's own board, timed and marked against the real mark scheme.

3

Feedback the student can act on

Each lesson ends with what went well, the specific technique to fix, and targeted practice before the next session. Parents get regular progress updates.

Combined Science tutoring starts from USD 15 per hour. See all plans.

FAQ

Combined Science tutoring — your questions

Is Combined Science worth two GCSEs?

Yes — it awards two grades from a single course covering all three sciences, as opposed to Triple (Separate) Science, which awards three. Combined Science does not close off A-Level sciences; entry requirements vary by school, so check the specific grade expected.

Should my child move to Triple Science?

It depends on interest, the timetable and whether the additional content will be taught or self-studied. More content is not automatically better — a strong Combined Science result is worth more than a stretched Triple. It is a conversation for the school as much as for a tutor.
