FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do you tutor AP courses, and which ones?

Yes — the AP sciences and maths (Calculus AB/BC, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics 1, 2 and C), AP English Language and Literature, and AP US, European and World History including the DBQ and LEQ formats. Lessons work to the current College Board course and exam description.

SAT or ACT — which should my child take?

Most US colleges accept either and do not prefer one. The practical difference is pacing and science reasoning: the ACT is faster with a dedicated science section, while the Digital SAT is adaptive and more heavily weighted to algebra. We usually run a diagnostic of each and let the scores decide rather than guessing.

Do you support Common Core state standards?

Yes. Lessons are matched to your state's standards and your school's own scope and sequence, which is what determines the pacing your child is actually assessed against — standards implementation varies meaningfully between states.

Can tutoring help with GPA as well as test scores?

The two need different work. Test prep is technique and timing under a fixed format; GPA depends on coursework, homework consistency and unit tests across a whole semester. Tell us which one matters most right now and lessons are planned around it, because the revision that lifts one does not automatically lift the other.

Which time zones do your tutors work in?

Tutors schedule across Eastern, Central, Mountain and Pacific time, including after-school and evening slots. Because our tutors are international, early-morning US slots are also usually available — which suits families who prefer to work before school.

Do you help with college application essays?

We coach the skills — structure, voice, revision and responding to the prompt actually asked — and give feedback on the student's drafts. We do not write or ghost-write application material; the essay has to be the student's own work, and admissions offices are good at telling the difference.
