What we teach

Computer Science Tutoring

Computer Science is two subjects in one exam: a programming skill that only develops by writing code, and a body of theory that rewards precise definitions. Lessons are split deliberately between them.

Practical work is done live — the student writes the code, the tutor watches them debug it. Reading someone else's solution builds far less than being stuck and then getting unstuck with guidance, which is why our sessions are hands-on rather than demonstrative.

We cover GCSE and IGCSE computer science, A-Level computer science, IB Computer Science HL and SL, and AP Computer Science A, in Python, Java, C# and pseudocode as the board requires.

In the lesson

What a lesson actually looks like

1

A diagnostic first lesson

The tutor works through a short set of problems to find where understanding actually breaks down — which is usually one or two topics earlier than the one causing trouble in class.

2

Teaching, then practice under exam conditions

Concepts are taught from first principles on the shared whiteboard, then applied to past-paper questions from the student's own board, timed and marked against the real mark scheme.

3

Feedback the student can act on

Each lesson ends with what went well, the specific technique to fix, and targeted practice before the next session. Parents get regular progress updates.

Computer Science tutoring starts from USD 15 per hour. See all plans.

FAQ

Computer Science tutoring — your questions

Does my child need to already know how to code?

No. We start wherever the student is, including from nothing. What matters more than prior experience is being willing to sit with a broken program for a few minutes rather than immediately asking for the answer — and that itself is something lessons build.

Which language do you teach in?

Whichever the student's course uses — most commonly Python at GCSE and A-Level, Java for AP Computer Science A, and Python or Java for IB. We also teach the board's own pseudocode, since written papers are usually answered in it rather than in real code.

Can you help with the NEA or IB internal assessment?

We can teach the skills the project needs — problem decomposition, design, testing strategy and technical writing — and discuss the student's approach. The project itself must be their own work under the board's academic integrity rules, so we do not write or debug submitted code.
